The rifle is a magnetic linear accelerator, the smooth
barrel housing contains coils that are charged by the chambered round.
In game terms it’s a ‘Capacitor Rifle’ each shell is a
highly charged capacitor with a ballistic tip coated in Nano fibers. The
capacitor charge powers up the coils in the barrel and accelerates the
projectile much faster than conventional solid or liquid combustibles. It will
punch a small hole through very thick armor. A nasty rifle with a big kick, the
Valkir use a similar weapon but they ware power armor and have considerably more
mass to deal with the recoil. Ada has learned how to lean into the shot and
lock her body into position. When the round is discharged she will remain
standing but is driven back a foot or two.

ReplyDeleteBut from what I've seen, magnetic accelerators don't have any recoil at all. It's the physical principle of it, and what makes it super efficient as a weapon / transportation method.

ReplyDeleteI may be mistaken but I think Newton’s laws of motion apply regardless of the means of acceleration.
Every action has an opposite and equal and reaction. To propel a very dense projectile through any means will cause recoil. The energy up pushing or accelerating an object with significant mass will always transfer that energy back to the device that is accelerating it.

After adding the details to the barrel of Ada´s gun it´s really getting cool. What about a scope or some kind of aiming device as she is a sniper?

In that armor you cannot get a cheek weld for sights or scopes. The snipers have a flip up display on the side of the rifle; I could not fit it here due to how close she is holding the rifle to her chest.

ReplyDeleteLooking really really good so far - how are you planning on detailing the hair? just curious as I am not sure what kind of details are achievable with this medium. definitely liking this model though - will be throwing up a pledge in the next couple of days just to make sure I get it.
